New Hiking, Biking, Running trails coming to Murrayhill! New Volunteer Opportunity.

MH Trail Improvements Phase 1

At the September 17 MOA Board meeting, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the development of two new trails in our community natural space. For those not aware of our natural space, we are incredibly fortunate to have access to approximately 17 acres of beautiful, forested land, holding 1 mile of existing trail, accessible from 155th Avenue, Cormorant Drive, and shortly, Falcon Drive. You may have noticed the new bridge and boardwalks built over the summer to improve the wet weather usability of the trails. The new trail development is the next phase of this effort and will add an additional mile+ of purpose-built multi-use trail designed to be enjoyed by hikers, runners, and bikers in a way that and preserves the natural environment for users and adjacent homeowners alike.

The work is a community volunteer effort, and is already underway with the goal of having the rough trail development done by the end of November, and the new trails in prime condition for next spring. For more information about the project, including maps of new trails, please see the attached file. Building trails is a great way to get outdoors and there is always a job for everyone – kids included! If you are interested in getting involved or have any questions, please contact our trail stewards, Adam Welliver and Greg Mills at murrayhilltrails@gmail.com. Due to COVID-19, our fall work parties will be smaller in size and managed to ensure proper social distancing.

We are incredibly excited about the continued use and development of this special community asset.
